Napster tracks that are downloaded to your computer are encoded with Window Media Audio (WMA) format at 128 Kbps stereo.
An Internet connection is required to download a track, but once it's on your computer you can listen to it without connecting to the Internet; simply use Napster in the "play offline" mode.
Tracks that you purchase
are permanently downloaded to your computer. Purchased downloads are identified
in your library by the
icon in the Type
column.
Purchased downloads can be burned to a CD and transferred to a portable device.
To view the tracks you've purchased, go to your library and open the Purchased Tracks folder.
If you've signed up for
the Napster Premium service, you can also download an unlimited number
of tracks without purchasing them. These tracks are identified in your
library by the
icon
in the Type column.
Premium service downloads are available for playback as long as your Premium service is active; if you cancel the Premium service, you lose the ability to play them unless you purchase them.
If you try to burn or transfer a Premium service download, you will be asked to purchase it first.
To see your downloads,
go to your library and click on
All Tracks in the Library tree.
Click on the Type column to sort
your tracks by type. Scroll down until the
icons are in
view.
